Simplifying Construction Management
Our Real Experience with Resio
At iLevel Construction, we're always looking for ways to simplify and strengthen how we manage projects. Recently, we made a big shift, moving from Buildertrend to Resio. We wanted better organization, more visibility for our clients, and smoother project financials. Here’s how that transition is going and what we’re learning along the way.
Getting Set Up and Why We Switched
We started out by exploring Resio’s onboarding process and right away, it felt intuitive. They sent a simple checklist via Google Drive, along with videos to walk us through the basics. Downloading the app and getting access to the dashboard was easy, and we quickly began transferring everything over from Buildertrend.
One of the big reasons we switched was for stronger financial tracking. We’d heard from other builders, like Rangeline Homes in Colorado, that Resio offers robust project financials without the need for a second software. That alone was a huge plus for us.
On top of that, Resio gives us access to all features from the beginning, no extra charges to unlock what we need. Having one place for selections, daily logs, photos, schedules, and files just makes the whole process more streamlined. When someone’s out sick or on vacation, it’s easy for another team member to step in and keep things moving forward.
Using Resio in the Field: Real Projects
Now that we've had time to use Resio in real projects, we’ve seen how helpful it really is. For example, on a shop built for a client with a stunning A-frame home, we uploaded a photo of their house right into the project page. From there, we’ve been using the daily logs, to-dos, and the Gantt chart to keep everything on track. The client—who’s out of state—can check in anytime to see progress.
The file organization is another highlight. We can tag documents like permits, plans, receipts, and selections. That way, we can filter and find exactly what we need in seconds.
On the estimating side, it took a little learning, especially adjusting for South Dakota’s excise tax, but now we’re up and running with templates for both homes and shops. We’re also doing invoicing directly in Resio and manually matching it in QuickBooks while we wait to finalize the integration. Clients can see everything from invoices and approvals to payments and budgets right from their portal. That transparency has been a game changer.
We now have a few jobs that are running fully through Resio, and it’s been smooth sailing. The more templates we build, the faster we can launch new projects.
Looking Ahead
Resio has already made a big impact on how we work. There’s still more to explore, like syncing QuickBooks and refining our cost codes, but we’re feeling confident about where this is going.
If you’re a homeowner looking to build or customize a new space, know that iLevel Constructions is investing in tools like Resio to make your experience more organized, transparent, and stress-free.
