Fixing Potholes the Right Way
If you’ve ever had to drive the same road every day, you know how frustrating potholes can be. For our team, it was more than just annoying, it was the only access road to a shop and home we were building. Each trip meant bouncing through a stretch of rough potholes that couldn’t be avoided. That’s when we decided to make a small but
that significantly impacted the building process.
Tackling a tough stretch of road
The problem spot was between a pond and a downhill overflow, leaving no way around the potholes. Instead of dealing with the daily frustration, we put our skid steer to good use. With a few scoops of limestone base course gravel, a mix we love because the clay and fines help it bind together, we filled the worst spots and smoothed everything out. It wasn’t just about us; clients, subcontractors, and suppliers would all benefit from a cleaner, smoother path.
Small effort, big improvement
Even though it wasn’t a full road project with heavy compaction, driving the skid steer back and forth did a decent job of packing it in. Add in the traffic from our garage door installers and other vehicles, and the road will only get firmer over time. It’s a quick example of how a little extra effort on-site can improve the experience for everyone, from clients to delivery drivers.
